trixalicious: (AI6 - Blake B&W)

I'm trying to eat dinner and update at the same time, so this will be brief and scattered:

  • I have equal amounts of love and hate for The Office finale. The parts that were awesome for me were super-awesome, but the parts that bothered me, bothered me in my very soul.
  • I'm about to begin reading the first Harry Potter book. I'll try and let you all know what I think about it as I go.
  • I voted for Blake Lewis. And I'll do it again.
  • I hope that this week's episode of VM didn't turn any of you off regarding Invisible Children. If any of you are interested in seeing the documentary, I have a loaner copy that I am more than happy to ship out.
  • Anthony or Daisy had better win Shear Genius. Actually, I like the final four, and would let any of them cut my hair, but I just like them best.
  • That's all I got. Very boring.

What part of the finale brothered you? I'm very worried about Jan.

The negative reaction to the MotW on VM is interesting to me because we were talking about this computer game called Darfur Is Dying in class the other day and how the helplessness of the character actually makes the player more apathetic instead of taking action.

The Jan/corporate stuff bothered me a lot. I have no problem with the new boobs, but since when does Jan, of all people, deserve to be fired? I mean, it was one thing when we started to get a look at her totally messed-up personal life and discovered how neurotic she was, but I don't like that they've retroactively made her incompetent at her job. It always seemed as though she was a damn good exec, who just didn't have it together anywhere BUT work. So, I really don't like that they took that away from her and made her flat out crazy. I'll wait and see what they do with her next season, but that whole storyline felt kind of out-of-the-blue to me.

Yeah, I think that a lot of the negative response to the MOTW has more to do with the PSA format. This was a MUCH better episode than Un-American Graffiti, but this coming so soon after that episode kind of makes you want to tune out as soon as you realize that there's a "message" included. But IC is an awesome organization, and it was very cool to see the actual guys involved working the booth with Wallace. (And it was also cool to see Kristen Bell wearing the same shirt as me when the actual PSA came on at the end of the show. Because I am a geek.)

Yeah, I agree. The whole "Jan's not good at her job anymore" storyline struck me as coming out of left field. It also makes me wonder what's going to happen next season. Are they going to show more of Jan and Michael at home? I'm really tired of the field trips out of the office.
