That's right, Frankenmix 14! It's been a long, long time since I actually completed a Frankenmix, even though I've saved the last dozen challenges for completion in the near/far future. This month's tracklist requirements are:

1. Your favorite song this month.
2. Your favorite instrumental number. (Or, alternatively, your favorite soundtrack-related song.)
3. A song that showcases your favorite singer.
4. Your favorite band's best number.
5. A song that could have been a favorite, if not for the lyrics.
6. A song that could have been your favorite, if not for the tune.
7. Your favorite song when you were fifteen.

I've been legally obtaining a lot of these songs (I KNOW! WTF?), so in cases where my copy is unsharable, I've tried to find links to the song on Youtube so that y'all can at least hear it once. Songs 1 & 4 are uploaded to Sarkgasm, so just right-click and save.

1. Your favorite song this month.
Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs: http://www.sarkgasm.com/trix/lj/Ruby.mp3
Love the Chiefs, love this album, love this song.

2. Your favorite instrumental number. (Or, alternatively, your favorite soundtrack-related song.)
Diablo Rojo - Rodrigo y Gabriela: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lvMQCmUVv8&mode=related&search=
So much awesome. Just go buy this album yesterday. You will not regret it.

3. A song that showcases your favorite singer.
When I'm Down - Chris Cornell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHAHS9lP5k4
This is from his previous solo album, not the new one, but it just shows off his gorgeous voice in a brutally amazing way. It's so gentle, yet entirely capable of kicking your ass whenever it feels like it.

4. Your favorite band's best number.
Fitzcarraldo (live) - The Frames: http://www.sarkgasm.com/trix/lj/Fitzcarraldo_Live.mp3
It was hard to pick just one, and I debated using several different tracks, but this live version of Fitzcarraldo just blows me away every time I hear it.

5. A song that could have been a favorite, if not for the lyrics.
Toxic - Britney Spears
I hate myself for digging the music as much as I do, but I do.

6. A song that could have been your favorite, if not for the tune.
Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BZsXVf6INc
Before everyone kicks my ass, it's not that I don't like it, it's just that I love the lyrics so much more than I like the instrumentation. (And I do kind of love the Placebo cover, so there's that.)

7. Your favorite song when you were fifteen.
1996? Let's go with Santa Monica - Everclear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzIr1_PMvW8
I think this came out the summer before I turned 15 (December baby), but I'm pretty sure it wasn't until the next summer, that I saw them in concert. Anyway, this song was a favorite that I carried all throughout my high school years, so it works.
