[livejournal.com profile] goobalicious finished OotP last night and called me around midnight. Sis on Book 5, Mom of Films 3 & 4. )

She's still a Hufflepuff though. I think she's pretty chuffed to be sharing a house with Cedric and Tonks.

Oh! And now, she wants me to write her a drabble that's a twist on the Time-Travel fic cliches. You know, there's a lot of fic out there where Hermione travels back in time to when the Marauders were still in school and, of course, proceeds to fall in love with Sirius, Lupin, Snape or a combination of the three. Goob's asking for a Lupin time-travel drabble where he goes back in time to when McGonagall is just beginning to teach at Hogwarts and falls in love with her. Yes. That's right. The sis is shipping Minerva/Remus. Which is all kinds of awesome, because septuagenarians need lovin' too. However, I hold to the strict "exactly-100-words" definition of a drabble and her specification are just way too specific for any kind of drabbling. :p

So, what you're all saying is, I finished the Harry Potter series just in time for a bunch of the HP comms to be randomly deleted. Nice. Now, it seems to me that I am fannishly unaffected, because I only have one squicky HP ship and as far as I can tell no Remus/Hermione comms have been deleted. Shut it, y'all. You know I have to have at least one hopelessly UC ship per fandom.

As of this moment, even though I've created a greatest journal, I'm not going anywhere (I'm hardly ever HERE in the first place), and I hope that I won't have to relocate this journal (especially since I just went back to having a paid account after months and months with only six icons to choose from). However, the main reason I use LJ these days is to read my f-list, and if you all leave, I guess I'll have no choice but to follow. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and - well, you get the point.

So far, I've read through Book 3, and I'm totally digging it. I've actually enjoyed each book in the series more than I did the one before it, so I'm very happy about that.

Favorite Student: Neville. Just because I got all teary at the end of Book 1 when he got 10 points for Gryffindor. I guess I have a soft-spot for hapless. (Y'all, I know I sorted my sis into Hufflepuff, but if she was an actual HP character, she'd be Neville.)
Favorite Professor: Minerva McGonagall. If I was an animagus, I'd turn into a cat too.
Favorite Weasley: Ron, of course, because in my head he's played by Dean Venture.
Favorite Character (All-Around): It was Hagrid for the first two books but then I met Remus Lupin. (Lupin is made of WIN, y'all!) And then I met Sirius Black, who now claims the title of MY MOST FAVORITEST. (And then two of these characters left Hogwarts. But they still exist in the HP universe, right? Oh, dear. This is going to turn out bad for me, isn't it?)
Shippy?: The books aren't very shippy yet (Do they even get shippy?), but I know there's a lot of fandom shipping, which I haven't paid much attention to, because I didn't know what the deal was. Now that I know, I have to say that I'm a Ron/Hermione girl. And, mildly, a Harry/Ginny girl. Her crush is too cute.

Wow. I totally need some HP icons, don't I? Can anyone point me to good book (not movie) icons?

I'm visiting with my folks this week, so I haven't been able to read my f-list since the end of last week. I'll try and catch up this weekend!

trixalicious: (Farscape - OTP)
Wow. Just frelling wow. I am completely spent, emotionally wrecked and utterly blissed out.

Everything that I love about Farscape? They gave. I can't think of anything more I could have asked for...

...just maybe a complimentary box of Kleenex.

Well, that was the best Golden Globes ceremony in recent memory. Quick run down of the highlights, shall we?

* Meryl Streep looked like crap on a stick. Seriously. I can handle the short dress trend if I must, but Meryl! NO. Not on you. That looked like something Carrie Bradshaw would wear to an evening funeral. Horrible. *shivers*

* I noticed on the Red Carpet that Jude Law told Joan he was there "with my friend Simon." Simon looked a heck of a lot like Sienna Miller, no? She's a man, baby! Yeah!

* Tim Robbins won. He didn't talk too long or say anything to lessen my enjoyment of the evening. Bonus points go to him because I just watched "The Hudsucker Proxy" the other night, and as obnoxious as I find Tim Robbin the "Activist," I adore Tim Robbins the Actor. ADORE. And I usually have a hard time separating my personal opinion of an actor from his/her professional ability. I'm talking at you, Gwyneth.

* The Talented and Fabulous Patricia Clarkson did not win. *sigh* That person I don't like very much did, looking better than she has in years. The Bridget Jones weight wears well on her, IMHO. Just wish her skirt hadn't called in sick...

* Mary-Louise's breasts. That was awesome. I just wish she had thanked that Rat Bastard for leaving her single and fabulous in a room full of handsome men. Bite me, Billy!

* Didn't love The Kief losing, but I couldn't begrudge LaPaglia. Anyway, "24" winning Best Drama more than made up for any lingering disappointment I felt. All those handsome mens up on stage together to accept. ROWR!THUD! And could Reiko have looked anymore brilliant? It was nice to see her shine.

* I changed my mind about Amber Tamblyn deserving to win. Did y'all see her lipstick? *shakes head* She can win next year when she's not wearing something that will haunt her for the rest of her life. But we'll get to Nicole Kidman later...

* ROTK won! Yay. That wasn't really a big shock to anyone, was it? I hope not. Lost in Translation won! YAY! Now that's awesome. And did everyone else notice what a stone fox Bill Murray is? Oh yeah, ROWR!

* Charlize. Congratulations, Gorgeous! She couldn't have looked better. Yay for her.

* Best snark of the night? Goes to MrTrix. I already related this over at Snarkgasm, but as Nicole was presenting the nominees for Best Movie Actor - Drama (Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise, Ben Kingsley, Jude Law and Sean Penn), he said, "Is the award Guess which man she haven't slept with? - HINT! It's not Ben Kingsley." That's some good snark there... But seriously, Nicole presenting an award to Russell, Jude or Tom would have made my night, even though I wouldn't particularly like to see any of them win anything. If only Ewan had done a drama. That could've been the best category EVER.

*Speaking of Nicole, I hear her next picture will be She-Ra Goes To Prom: )

* But of course, the really exciting event last night was "The Office" and Ricky Gervais being recognized. I cheered. Out loud. And there was also squealing and bouncing up and down on the couch. Fabulous! Perfick. Never has an award been so deserved. If you haven't seen "The Office" yet, you owe it to yourself to seek it out, especially if you've ever worked in an office environment. Check your Blockbuster, add it to your Amazon wishlist, spring for digital cable, whatever. You need to see that show.
